When is the next election?


The 2025 Municipal Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

What offices are up for election?


In the City of Brevard, the mayor and 2 city council seats will be on the ballot. In the Town of Rosman, there will be 3 board of alderman seats on the ballot. Click here for more information.

Who can file for office for municipal contests?

The qualifications for municipal candidates include the following:

  • Must be a qualified voter.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must not be disqualified due to felony conviction unless citizenship rights restored.
  • Must be a registered voter within the municipality one is filing for as a candidate.

When is candidate filing for municipal elections ?


  • Begins : Monday, July 7, 2025 at noon.
  • Ends : Friday, July 18, 2025 at noon.

Can an unaffiliated voter run for a municipal office?


Yes, persons registered as "unaffiliated" are able to file as a candidate in either the City of Brevard or Town of Rosman assuming the other qualifications are met. Municipals in Transylvania County use a non-partisan plurality method of elections meaning one does not have to be registered with a party and no primaries are held leading up to the election.
