The County Board of Elections is charged with overall responsibility for administration of the elections process in the county and operates under the direction of the State Board of Elections. The State Board appoints the three members of the County Board.

The County Board’s mission is to supervise the administration of voter registration and to conduct all elections in Transylvania County consistent with federal and state laws and regulations.  A professional staff, including the Director of Elections and three Elections Clerks, perform the administrative duties assigned by the County Board and the State Board of Elections.

Two members of the County Board and staff have completed the state certification program and maintain the distinction of “Certified Election Official.”  The newest member of the County Board began the three-year process of certification in 2005, and we expect she will be certified in 2009.
